Crashed my Car in the Snow

Crashed my Car in the Snow: Not surprising with all these Imperial Walkers around

So, my week of getting into good sleep habits has got off to a really bad start: Yesterday morning I crashed my car in the snow.

It had just started snowing and my son called to say he'd forgotten to take his backpack (with his lunch in) to school.

So I got myself ready enough, put the backpack and my two-year-old into the car and set off on the snowy roads, not thinking much about it.

I noticed a little bit of skidding at a junction on the way, but remembered to keep slowing down gradually and braking slowly, with gaps in between and it was ok.

Snorlax Week: Time for Rest and Relaxation

Snorlax Week: Time for Rest and Relaxation

Snorlax, the sleepiest Pokemon

How are you doing? Had enough yet, with all the holiday events, heavy meals, hosting, or any of these plus binge-watching Breaking Bad and Grey's Anatomy (like me)?

Everyone seems tired in the new year.

And tiredness isn't good for dieters.

It messes with hormones called leptin (which decreases appetite) and ghrelin (which increases it).

It lowers our resistance to eating what we shouldn't.

And it makes it easy to confuse low energy from tiredness with low energy from hunger, which we think we can fix with non stop caffeine, chocolate and junk food (or is that just me?)

Anyway, for all these reasons and more, tiredness isn't good.

Enter the Snorlax diet, inspired by my favourite, the sleepiest Pokemon and sometime resident on my desk at work:

Snorlax as Desk Pet

Ready to sort all that stuff out?

Enormous Baloth Diet: I Can’t Believe How Much Weight I Lost!

Fathom Mage

Fathom Mage:
Still got a few details
of that look to work on 😉

So am I still an Enormous Baloth, or have I managed to become a Fathom Mage?

You won't believe how much weight I lost on my Magic: The Gathering themed Enormous Baloth Diet this week!

Starting weight: 223.6lbs
Ending weight: 218.6lbs

It worked! Ok, so I may not be a Fathom Mage yet, but I found this diet easy and pleasant to follow, and still lost five pounds in a week! Why? Why?? My best guess is: no bread...?

To sum up the Enormous Baloth Diet:

It's lots of vegetables, fruit, unprocessed whole grains, and pork.

Read the card:

Its diet consists of fruits, plants, small woodland animals, large woodland animals, woodlands, fruit groves, fruit farmers, and small cities.

Enormous Baloth: Is this the Best Magic the Gathering card for Dieters?

So here's my food diary, but first, about that bacon:

I know bacon isn't usually a healthy food, but I was very lucky to find the healthier 'no added nitrates/nitrites' bacon in a pretty good sale at the supermarket this week - it must be a sign! Still salty, but it's an improvement 🙂

This North Carolina style barbecue sauce recipe makes about 2 bottles' worth of a tasty, medium-spicy barbecue sauce from scratch, without food additives. The recipe is from Sheila Lukins' USA Cook Book, and I used it to make pulled pork for my Enormous Baloth Diet.

Make this barbecue sauce a day ahead, and refrigerate it overnight before using it.

Cooking time: 3 hours + overnight
