Black Lotus: the $100,000 Magic card

Would you pay $100,000 for a playing card? One lucky Magic the Gathering card collector is hoping someone will.

Described as 'The Holy Grail & Highest graded Magic card in the World,' this card is the Black Lotus, by Christopher Rush, one of the first MTG cards ever drawn.

It requires no land to play, and adds to the player's land.

I love the pictures on Magic cards. But $100,000..?

So I did a search for the most expensive MTG cards on eBay.
Imagine finding one of these in the pages of a secondhand book 🙂

If I were a billionaire, I'd love to buy up fantastic collectible items and hide them in places like that.

Then I'd set up some Google Alerts and wait for the exciting discoveries to appear...

What would you hide? And where would you hide it?

Comment here 🙂

It’s the Enormous Baloth Diet!

The Enormous Baloth Diet: based on the Magic The Gathering creature that's most obviously dieting!

Enormous Baloth:
Sounds like a dieter to me...

Since the Enormous Baloth is the Magic The Gathering creature that's most obviously dieting, I thought it was about time to try out a diet for it.

According to the card,

Its diet consists of fruits, plants, small woodland animals, large woodland animals, woodlands, fruit groves, fruit farmers, and small cities.

So, it's fruits, plants, woodland animals, and we'll aim to stop there... 😉

Fathom Mage: what I'll look like by the end of my diet ;)

Also planning to end the week as a Fathom Mage

Off the top of my head, the only woodland animal I can think of is wild boar, (ie pork), since I can't bring my inner vegetarian to eat squirrels or Bambi, and yes I know that's not logical.

So it's fruits, vegetables and pork.

I've also decided to let 'plants' include whole grains, but that's literally the grains, like brown rice, jumbo oats or plain popcorn, not baked food, even with wholemeal flour.

And I'm cutting out dairy foods except for lowfat milk in my tea and coffee, because I know if I try to give that up at the moment the whole thing will go out of the window.

So who's up for the Enormous Baloth diet?
It's got bacon 🙂

Is this the Best Magic The Gathering Card for Dieters?

Enormous Baloth

Enormous Baloth: Sounds like a dieter...

Hmm...

If we ever needed a Magic The Gathering mascot creature card for dieters, I think this could be it:

Its diet consists of fruits, plants, small woodland animals, large woodland animals, woodlands, fruit groves, fruit farmers, and small cities.

Starts off eating fruit and plants, ends up eating small cities, huh..?

Sounds like a diet to me! So here it is: The Enormous Baloth Diet!
