Could a Breaking Bad Diet Work for a Road Trip?

(All videos NSFW). You know you've been watching Breaking Bad too much when you keep nearly calling people 'b*tch'.

So at first this might not seem like the best diet for visiting your mother in law...

But we're going on a fantastic road trip to get there too, probably through New Mexico, though sadly not in the true fan style of this Breaking Bad RV Tour.

And it will involve a lot more fast food than we usually eat. So this is a kind of reconnaissance and damage control diet.

I should add, right upfront, that I am not recommending amphetamines, although apparently there still are some over the counter diet supplements that contain them.

And I'm not recommending fast food either, just seeing if I can work with it.

Can't anyone else be professional about this?

I'll be taking the 'Dining Out Companion' book from WeightWatchers. That's pretty professional, though in some ways incomprehensible too.

I'll also be taking advantage of the new law that requires big chain restaurants to publish the number of calories in all their meals.

So how will this Breaking Bad diet work?

I should probably have a chemical formula ready at this point. But in fact (shocker!) I have no scientific reasoning for this diet. It's basically just an attempt at weight-gain damage control while on vacation.

What are the rules?

Got a Sick Munchkin so that makes this Pukachu Week

Welcome, Pukachu

Got a Sick Munchkin this week? Here's Pukachu, from Munchkin by Steve Jackson Games.

Pukachu, from Munchkin, by Steve Jackson Games. Find it at Target

I love these unexpected ways that my almost-teens and toddler cross paths- they all love the Munchkin cards, in their different, completely conflicting ways.

Have you ever had that kind of flu where you feel really achy and miserable? That's what my two-year-old has this week. 'Drooling Slime' might be more accurate, but I think Pukachu says 'Sick Munchkin' better (Tweet this!)

He's been so close to the edge, poor little guy, I'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of flu strain called Depression Flu (my version), or for his age, Tantrum Flu.

This morning he was furious that I threw his snotty tissue away.

Super fun. And now he's asleep 🙂

So looking through the Munchkin cards was much more fun. Munchkin is by Steve Jackson, who I first heard of as the author of Fighting Fantasy interactive game books (anyone else played those?).

Officially, it's a nice Dungeons and Dragons-inspired comedy game with funny cards and lots of cool expansion sets (we've got the space-themed Star Munchkin too). The rules are a little bit complicated, but much easier than Magic the Gathering. And the cards are fun to look at too.

Find out more at Board Game Geek.

When my older kids are sick, we can still play a table top game. When my little one is sick, there are stories, TV, and pictures.

Either way, there's no sci-fi diet plan this week, just an update about why not. I've got plans for the next few weeks though, so...

Workout Review: Tammy’s Fitness Jammies!

Pajama Workout Review: Tammy's Fitness Jammies

What is Tammy's Fitness Jammies?

One of the nicer things about having a blog page on Facebook is that I get to see more of the interesting fitness-related things people are doing.

And one of the pages that caught my eye was for Tammy's Fitness Jammies.

It's literally a personal trainer called Tammy who makes workout videos in pyjamas (Tweet this! ) Here's her introduction video (Burpees!):

And here's the YouTube page.

The pyjama workouts prove you don't have to be in a high tech gym or buy a load of expensive sports equipment to get moving and improve your fitness. And I love them! (Did I give the review away already?)

Also apparently I've been in America long enough to recognise a Canadian accent now - because this is a good one and it's pretty cool 🙂

I wasn't sure I'd like Tammy's Fitness Jammies until I tried it. I'm not (at all!) a morning person. I rush around throwing clothes on and drinking as much coffee as I can before driving my oldest son to the school I really meant to be walking to.

But when I thought about the clothes I wear for the school run: sweatpants and the awesomely warm 'meh' hoodie from Thinkgeek; I realised that apart from looking like outdoor clothes, they weren't really that different from pyjamas.

And since each workout is only 3-5 minutes long, I decided to try one every morning this week. Here's how it worked out:
