Well, we did it! Elastigirl and I lost 1lb 12oz on the Hip and Thigh Diet. I’m sure Rosemary Conley would be pleased. Or if not, at least I am. It’s like the 80s all over again 🙂

Beginning weight: 211 lbs
Ending weight: 209.2 lbs

So how was the Hip and Thigh Diet?

With all the unfashionableness of low fat diets now that Atkins and Paleo are big, you’d be forgiven for thinking they didn’t work, but of course they still do. Perhaps not as well as when I was a teenager, but sadly I don’t think that’s the diet’s fault!

The Low Fat Food

The food wasn’t bad. It’s easy to find low fat versions of dairy products especially, as well as cheap and convenient fruit like apples, bananas and satsumas.

And I really appreciated the convenience of the packed lunch options, as well as being reminded of the fabulousness of the jacket potato. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that this diet came along just after the microwave oven!

Feeling Hungry?

I felt hungry at times, but also felt lighter, so I didn’t mind because I felt like the diet was working.

I know Rosemary Conley has continued developing this diet since my copy of the book was published, with an online slimming club, weekly classes with exercises (friends of mine used to like these), and (I think?) a red wine diet too, which I should definitely check out sometime. I have faith in Rosemary!

But…

There’s just one thing. This low fat diet week finished before Thanksgiving. And I’ve been too scared to get back on the scales since then!
