It’s a Clangers Diet this week, in honour of the Rosetta Comet Landing!

We sci-fi and space fans have to celebrate the European Space Agency’s fantastic achievement in landing the Philae probe on the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet today after a ten year, 300 million mile journey! And what better way to celebrate than with a diet inspired by the comet’s most likely inhabitants, the Clangers 🙂
Have you heard the unearthly space sounds recorded from the Rosetta comet landing? Click here for the audio recording! It’s amazing. And doesn’t the far-away look and sound of the comet remind you of something?
For those who weren’t lucky enough to grow up with the Clangers, here’s a little catch-up:
Find more of the Clangers on YouTube and Amazon UK
See? Music in space! It’s starter sci fi for toddlers 🙂
So what can we do for a Clangers Diet?
This is what the Clangers eat:

The Clangers make Blue String Pudding
- Blue string pudding (I’ll try spaghetti or spaghetti squash with blue food colouring!)
- Soup, fetched from the Soup Dragon’s soup wells of course
- And for treats, one bag of chocolate money, caught by fishing from the music boat in space
Here are some Useful Recipes

- Here’s a Carrot, Coriander and Lentil Soup Recipe
And also this week:
- Watch the Clangers, read about the comet, get the kids enthusiastic, and learn about space exploration
And why will this work?
- Soup is a good diet food (see ‘Soups for Weight Loss‘), although some are better than others (see ‘Worst Soups for Weight Loss‘).
- Human beings have a natural aversion to blue foods, since they appear so seldom in nature
- One bag of chocolate money over a week is a pretty nice treat, and not too much of it.
Wish me luck! It’s off to a good start already, watching Clangers videos and listening to space, both popular with all my kids 🙂

Hey very interesting blog!|
What fun food tie-ins! We are talking about oceans right now for homeschool, but the planets and space will be happening later this year.
That sounds like fun! We made the Earth out of bread and cheese once 🙂
