A Year of Geeks Diets: It’s my Blog Anniversary!

A year of Geeks Diets and Club Adipose turns one: it's my first Blog Anniversary! Many Happy Returns!

Many Happy Returns! Opening title from my all-time favourite show, The Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan
Rent from Netflix, or watch The Prisoner – Season 1 on Amazon UK Instant Video

I can’t believe it’s been a year! And this is also my 100th post!
(Of course I planned it that way 😉 )

A Good Year?

Yes. It’s been:

  • A year of funny fitness and dieting (well it made us laugh!) and geeky things to write about.
  • A year of re-familiarising myself with WordPress, building my website, and practising writing and picture editing.
  • A year of getting back into social media, making friends with other bloggers and catching up on changes.
  • A year of wandering through Thinkgeek‘s little online book of dreams…

And did I lose weight? Goodness, yes, the same 20 pounds over and over and over again.
But it’s been fun.

So What Now?

It’s my one year blogoversary, or is it blogiversary? (I’m not putting a word in a title when no one knows how to spell it yet!)

I know the usual thing is to do a lot of soul searching, but this doesn’t seem like the time for that yet.

That can come later. If ever.

It’s my one year blog anniversary. And also my 100th post. Really, a year?? A year of geeks’ diets and blogging. A hundred posts.

Happy Blog Anniversary, Club Adipose!

It’s time to step away from the keyboard, get a nice bottle and a picnic, and go out and do something else. I’m pretty sure my family would agree 🙂

And then it’s time to figure out how to fit ‘Kosho’ into my ‘fitness regime’:

Review: ‘The Drunk Diet: How I Lost 40 Pounds… Wasted’

The Drunk Diet Book Cover The Drunk Diet

Author and ‘Drunk Dieter’: Lüc Carl

Review of 'The Drunk Diet: How I Lost 40 Pounds... Wasted' by Lüc Carl, my new hero and role model

Lüc Carl: ‘The Drunk Diet – How I Lost 40 Pounds… Wasted’

I have a new role model! Looks just like me, doesn’t he 🙂

I really enjoyed this unconventional diet book. Lüc Carl comes across as a very likeable character, with a straightforward, informal style.

Those who like to watch their language might be put off by the occasional gratuitous swear words scattered through the book.

But frankly, when it comes to swearing, he’s no match for the nice vegan lady authors of ‘The Skinny Bitch Diet‘.

The Story

He’s a hard rock enthusiast who grew up in an overweight Midwestern family (‘the fattest region in the country’), and left to play in heavy metal bands in New York City.

While not quite becoming a big haired hard rock megastar, along the way he worked long hours in several jobs: music shop, taco stand and late night bar manager. Many funny stories later, the hard working, 15 beers a night lifestyle, fattening Midwestern meals and late night take aways had taken their toll and he found himself about 30 pounds overweight.

You’d never notice, would you? I mean, I’m being very modest about it and all, but why don’t I just leave this here:

Whole Food Bellies

I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award! It’s an award to encourage new(ish) blogs, that’s passed on from blogger to blogger.

It’s a friendly networking kind of thing, and I’d like to thank the fabulous Donna of Whole Food Bellies, who nominated me.

Whole Food Bellies is a great food blog, full of healthy recipes that I know my family and I would love too 🙂

Here’s her post about the Liebster Award.

Once nominated you are asked to do a small favour in return:

  • You must continue paying it forward
  • Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog on your blog
  • Reveal 11 facts about yourself (so people get to know you better)
  • Answer the questions of the blogger who nominated you (so people get to know you even better)
  • Now, nominate other fellow upcoming bloggers that you feel deserve the award
  • Give your nominees a list of questions they have to answer
  • List these rules in your post and inform the nominees
