‘Sil’ from Species: ‘Skinniest Bitch’ in Sci-Fi?

Could you resist a diet book called ‘Skinny Bitch‘? Not many people could, apparently, as it was a #1 New York Times Bestseller.

“A no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous!”
‘Skinny Bitch’, by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin

So what’s the skinny on the ‘Skinny Bitch’ diet?

The biggest change is that it’s vegan, which makes me doubt the authors’ ‘bitch’ credentials, as they’re very concerned with animal welfare.

It does make sense for a diet though, including less animal fat and more plants for a start.

It’s also a diet that tries to avoid artificial food additives and over-processed foods, in line with health recommendations, and has no faith in government agencies for food regulation, thereby neatly combining both political extremes of dieters 🙂

These recommendations are backed up by some shocking examples of animal cruelty in slaughterhouses and failures in oversight by government regulatory agencies, along with useful information about vegan nutrition.

In between, it’s quite a fun book to read if you don’t mind a bit of swearing and enjoy bluntness to the point of rudeness: Cigarettes are for losers, soda is liquid Satan, etc. I quite liked it, anyway.

But am I being a bit mean to poor little lab-bred half-alien Sil?

Come on. I mean, I felt sorry for her at first too…
