A Pac-Man Diet? This Week It’s Really Silly :)

A Pac-Man Diet: Ready?

This week's diet is for all us snackers, and it's in honour of the 35th anniversary of Pac-Man, that greatest constant snacker of all.

Who can believe that Pac-Man is 35 years old today?

That must be how Pac-Man and I were exactly the right age for each other when it launched 🙂

I remember playing Pac-Man in arcades as a kid, then Miss Pac-Man on dates, and lots of other versions, like Gulpman on the ZX Spectrum, and my favourite cutesy variation, Pac-Land.

So, Pac-Man, what's your diet?

(wakka wakka)

Pick any sensible diet that allows fruit, say a low fat diet or high fibre diet for example.

Make dinners you can squeeze some lemon on, like fish and vegetables, or chicken and salad.

See? Looks just like a Pac-Man 🙂

Then each day, the only snacks we're allowed are the (Miss) Pac-Man fruits, in order.

And all through the week we get points.

Because... points!

So, did I boost my metabolism like Captain America?

How my metabolism boosting diet went wrong - but at least we made Captain America Shield Frisbees!

My metabolism boosting diet went wrong - but at least we made Captain America Shield Frisbees!

How was Captain America week for me? Starting weight: 209.5lbs. Ending weight: 215.8lbs. I don't know if my metabolism improved but in terms of weight 'loss', it was a disaster!

So what went wrong? It started off quite well, except that the advice about calorie intake was meaningless for me: I had no idea how many calories I'd been eating normally, so I couldn't cut that down by 100. And I never got round to finding out how many calories were in most of the food I was eating, so even after using the resting metabolic rate calculator, which told me I should be eating about 1645 calories per day, I don't know how many I was eating.

And when Dr Oz says to eat ice cream, does he mean that literally, or is he assuming you already eat ice cream, and would eat 100 calories less of it? I hedged my bets with WeightWatchers ice cream: the latte flavoured ones are only 90 calories, and really not bad 🙂

But none of those things were the problem.

Happy July 4th! Boost your Metabolism, and be like Captain America!

Happy 4th of July! We are inspired by Captain America this week! And since I learned from 'Captain America: the First Avenger' that his metabolism is four times faster than normal, that is what we are aiming for this week 🙂 No need to join the army (unless you're in it, of course), be in secret military experiments or save the world: that can always come later.

And why is it good to boost your metabolism? To eat more food without getting fat, instead of eating half a lettuce leaf and putting weight on.

How did it go? Read the results here: 'So, did I boost my metabolism, like Captain America?'

So, trawling the internet for ways to boost your metabolic rate if you're not a superhero seems to come up with a consensus (mostly) on these things:
